When was the last time you replaced your filter on your heating/air unit? This is one of the easiest and quickest steps you can take to maintain your system and save on your energy bills, yet it is one that is easily forgotten by many.
When your filter clogs, air is not able to properly flow through the system, causing the unit to work harder at producing heat. If the filter becomes severely clogged, it can even cause your system to overheat.
You should check your filters once a month. Set a date and put it on the calendar. If you cannot see light coming through the filter, it is time to replace it.
